Scenic Drives & Walking Trails
A great way to explore the Eyre Peninsula is to take one of the scenic drives or walking trails. These give you the chance to admire the natural wonders at your own pace. Secure a sheltered beach all to yourself, feel the granite outcrops or try some wildlife spotting. You'll find scenic drives and trails beginning in many Eyre Peninsula towns. Try these driving route ideas:
- Elliston Great Ocean Drive, a 12 kilometre route between Anxious Bay and Waterloo Bay with coastal views including rugged cliffs
- Port Bonython and Point Lowly scenic drive is 20 minutes north east of Whyalla
- Streaky Bay to Point Labatt, 51 kilometres south, where you can see the only permanent colony of sea-lions on the Australian mainland
- Wudinna Granite Trail, a 25 kilometre route taking you through undulating scenic agricultural country
And try these walking trails:
- Parnkalla Trail, winding around the edges of Port Lincoln's beautiful natural harbour
- Freycinet Trail, a 12 kilometre coastal trail between the Point Lowly lighthouse and Fitzgerald Bay
- Oyster Walk, a delightful 8 kilometre walkway in Coffin Bay, ending in the lookout in Kelledie Bay Conservation Park
- Arno Bay Mangrove Boardwalk is 700 metres long and shows off the pristine beauty of the Arno Bay Estuary
- South Head Walking Trail at Venus Bay - while strolling you may see 30-40 dolphins playing in the waves
