Cycling
Though the winding roads of the Adelaide Hills are popular with international cyclists competing in the Tour Down Under, amateurs should ride these roads with care. A better option is the Mawson Trail, which starts from the centre of Adelaide to the Flinders Ranges, via the Mount Lofty Ranges.
For a shorter leg, pick up the trail at Gorge Road, near Athelstone, and ride through the picturesque Torrens Gorge and Chain of Ponds areas. Both Kuitpo and Mount Crawford forests also offer good cycling, allowing a combination of cross-country trails and easy rides suitable for all ages.
Bicycle SA provides lots of information about cycling in the Adelaide Hills and through out South Australia.
