Several major food businesses have prospered in the Adelaide Hills including Melba's Chocolates and Beerenberg. More recently, boutique food producers like Udder Delights, Willabrand, Coorong Angus Beef and Bird in Hand have spearheaded the development of a dynamic gourmet food sector.
Hahndorf Hill Winery cellar door opens its bistro on weekends serving light meals featuring the best local fare complemented by its cool-climate wines. The Woodside Providore serves traditional favourites brought to life with fresh, local ingredients, while the food philosophy of Six Degrees @ cafe jazz in Hahndorf is about honest seasonal, regional produce.
Try one of the Hills fabulous bakeries. In Mount Barker you'll find the Brezel Bakery and Millies Bakery Cafe (there's another outlet in Stirling and Nairne) while Hahndorf has Otto's and the Kaffehaus.
The Lobethal Bakery (with extra outlets in Woodside and Stirling) has a huge selection of pastries and cakes. The Meadows, Aldgate (organic) and Woodbake bakers in Stirling attract fans from far and wide.
