Our Living Heritage

drag onto travel planner

Ever wondered what 160 years of history looks like? Explore the Barossa and you'll soon find out.

The Barossa's success was built on hard work and a strong vision for the future. As the region thrived, so did civic pride and the desire to build a community which would stand the test of time. That strong sense of pride has never waned, and the region's heritage is proudly preserved and celebrated by the local community. It's also enthusiastically shared with our visitors, and churches, museums and heritage sites are open to discover and enjoy.

Start at the visitor information centres in Gawler and Tanunda, or one of the information outlets in neighbouring towns. There you'll find town walk brochures and detailed information on heritage sites throughout the region, including the Barossa Heritage Trail guide. Stretching north to Kapunda and south to Mount Pleasant, this fascinating trail links museums, historic places and natural sites and is the key to unlocking the Barossa's heritage.
