Barossa Museums
See the Barossa Historical Museum in Tanunda. It's within a former 1865 post office and houses relics portraying the Barossa's German heritage. You'll find significant exhibits including church furniture with German inscriptions, a Kruger organ, a model of Wartburg castle and pottery by Samuel Hoffmann.
Or visit Chateau Barossa, 'The House of Grape Liqueurs'. It's set within a rose garden of 30,000 roses. Walk the garden and browse the antiques museum and gift shop, enjoy the food, wine and roses from the restaurant and stay the night. But above all make sure you taste the sensational grape liqueurs including our unique rose flavoured Turkish Delight.
The Herbig Family Tree in Springton is part of a fascinating story. This large, hollow red gum tree was the first Australian home of Friedreich Herbig. In 1858 he married Caroline Rattey and took her to live in the tree home, and the first two of their 16 children were born there.
