The Yorke Peninsula Home Grown Trail is your ticket for a behind-the-scenes view as locals welcome you to their farms and businesses to discover their working lives. They'll show you what they do and how they do it - getting things grown, harvested, and taken to the world. The Home Grown Trail takes in:


Alpacas Chaparral, Minlaton

Come and meet these curious creatures at Yorke Peninsula's most highly awarded stud.  Produce available both at the farm or Yorke Peninsula Visitor Information Centre, Minlaton.  Tours available by appointment.  Telephone Dee or Shorty on +61 8 8 8853 2354.


Barachel Alpacas, Wool BayBarachel Alpacas, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia

Alpacas are adored for their softness and friendliness; baby alpacas are on site most of the year and visitors can feed them. Barley Stacks Wines, Maitland

Ducatoon Park, Home Grown Trail, Yorke Peninsula

Ducatoon Park Horse Stud, Kadina

Ducatoon Park Horse Stud at Kadina is one of South Australia's leading horse studs.  See the new foals, preparation of yearlings for sale and the education of young horses.  Tours available seven days by appointment, telephone Peter or Valmai on +61 8 8821 3360.


Orrie Cowie Merino Stud, Warooka

The flock was established in 1935 and is still owned and run by the founding family. Learn about the stud and see the sheepdogs in action. Tours Monday to Saturday by appointment. Telephone Heather on +61 8 8854 5250 or 0417 898 474.


Paper Nymph Handmade Paper, Warooka

This historic shop produces fine recycled handmade paper, books and cards. View the paper-making process, have a go at marbling and visit the magical 'Rainbow Room'.  Open Tuesday to Friday tours by appointment.  Telephone Traci on +61 0439 444 137.


Port Vincent Primary School Marine Study Centre, Port Vincent

This small school's passion for environmental education is evident in the saltwater aquariums featuring the marine life of Gulf St Vincent. Tours available most school days after 11am by appointment. Telephone the school on +61 8 8853 7027.
