Fishing Regulations on Kangaroo Island

drag onto travel planner

It pays to be aware of local fishing regulations before you cast a line in Kangaroo Island.

For example, there are minimum fish lengths and bag limits that must be adhered to. There are heavy penalties for infringements of South Australia's fishing regulations.

Contact Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia for bag and boat catch limits, for full details.

Aquatic reserves at American River (Pelican Lagoon) and Seal Bay are closed to fishing. Taking any marine organisms (including plants, crabs, shells etc) or disturbing the seabed is prohibited on Kangaroo Island. Entering the water at Seal Bay is also prohibited.

No fishing in National Parks rivers or creeks is allowed.
