Banrock Station Wine & Wetlands Centre
Banrock Station Wine & Wetland Centre is one of Australia's major ecotourism attractions.
See the rejuvenated wetlands that are attracting bird life back to the area.
There are three walks to enjoy - choose from 2.5 kilometres, 4 kilometres and an 8 kilometre boardwalk. They offer story centres, information huts and five bird hides for great bird watching.
Relax outdoors on Banrock's spacious deck, taking in the stunning views of vineyards, wetlands and river. Sample and purchase a superb range of Banrock wines.
Banrock's vineyards and carefully restored wetlands provide the natural infrastructure for this ecotourism masterpiece.
Banrock Station is starting its first complete drying in 82 years and should be completely dry from mid March 2007 to September 2007 - just like it did for thousands of years before man-made weirs and locks were installed nearby on the River Murray. This temporary drying will be repeated every two years. You can take a route along the boardwalk that will enable you to walk on the dry bed of the lagoon.
