If you've ever dreamed of living like a local in the Outback, station stays are the most relaxing way to do it.

Imagine the noise and bustle of a working station, against awe-inspiring and ancient mountain ranges, experience the colours and smells of the Flinders Ranges - the dust rising from the ground and the warming thought of a glass of South Australian wine waiting for you on the Homestead's shady veranda. This is living!

Stations in the Flinders Ranges are mostly sheep properties and generally smaller than Outback stations further north. Outback stations run over vast areas of land and hold cattle for some of Australia's big outback names, like Kidman and Co.

Properties vary in size, shape and character. Accommodation styles range from modest shearers quarters to elegant homesteads, where you can cater for yourself, or join your host family for meals. The meals are a particularly enjoyable part of any historic accommodation experience. Friendly hosts who delight in sharing their house with guests provide large cooked breakfasts and homemade dinners using fresh produce.
