For Wine or Reason is based in Adelaide and specialises in intimate and informative winery tours for small groups wishing to explore Barossa, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. We will show you the best of what South Australia has to offer.

As an accredited tourism business with the South Australian Tourism Industry Council and a member of the Chauffeured Vehicle Association, the Owner/Tour-Guide has been in the industry for many years and loves his work (food, wine are my passion).

Our intimate tours include: gourmet lunch and complimentary glass of wine. Due to our personal relationships with the wineries you will enjoy free wine tastings, pick up and return from Adelaide or the region of your tour.

Adelaide Hills Personalised Wine Day Tour

The Adelaide Hills region is one of the cooler wine Provinces of mainland Australia and South Australia's oldest wine regions, dating back to 1845. It is home to a range of quality boutique and gourmet food producers with fascinating little road-side stalls which are a common site alongside farmers markets on weekends. The region produces sparkling and still wines. Principal varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and elegant Shiraz.

A leisurely two hour drive from Adelaide, Clare Valley is recognised as the Riesling Capital of Australia. It is Australia's smallest and one of the leading viticulture regions. It is famed for its wine and pioneering heritage. James Halliday (Australian wine critic) says, unlocking the secrets of the Clare Valley is a pastime open to all who visit this most beautiful part of Australia. See Vignerons at work in 150-year-old cellars. Principal varieties in the Clare Valley are Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

Barossa Valley via Adelaide Hills Wineries Tour

In the Adelaide Hills you'll find South Australia's oldest wine region. Enjoy cool climate wines from Adelaide Hills to the hardy reds of the Barossa.

Mount Lofty Summit is the highest point which is 710 metres above sea level; the summit landing provides you with breathtaking views of the city's landmarks and coastline.

Visit the historic 1860s Bridgewater Mill - the waterwheel still turns today. Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement settled in 1840s is where you can enjoy a break or take a stroll through the village. Enjoy wine tasting at various Adelaide Hills wineries.

In the Barossa visit a variety of iconic wineries and enjoy tastings after lunch at Vintners Bar and Grill or Saltram Restaurant. You may also want to stop at Maggie Beers Farm Shop for food tastings, and coffee or tea (optional).
