Rundle Mall

Shop till you drop

In the heart of the city centre, grab a serious dose of shopping therapy in our bustling Rundle Mall precinct.

Rundle Mall

Walk, catch a tram or park your bike, then stroll along the paved pedestrian zone crammed with more than 500 retailers. Do all your shopping here with department stores, supermarkets and everything from bags to wigs and shoes to pet shops.

Opened in 1976, Rundle Mall is constantly evolving but as you walk look up because there’s lots of history above eye level.

Many buildings date back to the nineteenth century and feature beautifully restored Victorian stone work.

The hustle and bustle

Watch where you’re going because there’s plenty happening at street level too.

Stalls brim with freshly picked flowers and the sweetest fruit. Public art in Adelaide doesn’t get more iconic than the Mall’s Balls and the kids will love the four bronze pigs “fossicking for scraps”.

There’s always something going on under the giant canopy at the Gawler Place intersection. Join workshops and watch media events, comedians and school holiday performances.

Look a little closer

Find a bench to sit on and listen to the buskers, a happy mix of chatting shoppers, in-house music and spruikers.

Check out the City Cross Arcade super screen showing the latest promotional news and major community events.

Spend some time investigating the narrow laneways, side streets and arcades.

Arcade ambience

Adelaide Arcade with its iron and glass roof feels unchanged from its late nineteenth century origins. There’s a gentle, reflective ambience here among the balcony level businesses and little shops that are small in size but big in character. It’s perfect for a quiet coffee.

Regent Arcade has a food and fashion focus and a more modern feel than Adelaide Arcade.

Hungry? No problems!

Food courts, outdoor restaurants, cafés, coffee, tea and juice bars, amazing crepes and deadly ice-creams are all here.

I you want more ideas about what to do, the staffed visitor information booth will answer your questions.

Rundle Mall, more than just a shopping strip.
