Depending on your entry point into Australia, there are a number of ways you can make the journey into South Australia and Adelaide. Choose a mode of transport to learn more.

By Air
Adelaide Airport is eight kilometres (5 miles) from the centre of the city, a 15-minute drive. It services regional, domestic and international travellers in one state-of-the-art building, the newest and most efficient aviation terminal in Australia. The South Australian Visitor & Travel Centre runs an information and booking centre in the main airport building. It is open for every domestic and international flight arrival, 365 days of the year.
Adelaide International Airport, South Australia
There is an A$2 levy on all taxi fares to the new Adelaide Airport. The average taxi fare from the city centre to the airport is A$17. Skylink Shuttle operates between the airport, city and Interstate Rail Terminal (Keswick) at a cost of A$7.50 one way. JetBus links the airport and the city and some suburbs. Domestic Air Travel
Qantas Airways and Virgin Blue operate frequent services to Adelaide from Australia's cities. Jetstar operates flights from Darwin, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne (Avalon), Cairns, Hamilton Island, and the Gold Coast. Tiger Airways operates flights to and from Melbourne.

International Air Travel
Qantas, Air New Zealand and United Airlines all operate direct flights to Australia from the US with connections on to South Australia. Also, Air New Zealand offers non-stop flights from Auckland, NZ to Adelaide.

Regional Air Travel
The luggage allowance for regional airlines within South Australia varies from 4 to 7 kilograms (9  to 15 pounds) for carry on luggage and 14 to 15 kilograms (30-32 pounds) for checked luggage depending on the airline. By Rail
All interstate trains arrive at and depart from Adelaide Parklands Rail Terminal, which is 3 kilometers (2 miles) west of the city centre. Local taxis and shuttle bus services meet every train. Great Southern Railway operates the following interstate train services:

· The Indian Pacific between Sydney, Adelaide and Perth
· The Ghan between Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin
· The Overland between Melbourne and Adelaide

By Car
With its central position on the continent of Australia, South Australia is a great self-drive destination from or to interstate cities. These drives offer a wealth of holiday experiences.

Car Hire
All major car rental companies have depots in Adelaide, as do smaller, local companies, and provide a range of vehicles for hire from both city and airport depots. A current driver’s licence and a deposit or credit card imprint are needed. The minimum age requirement varies between 21 and 25 years depending on the company and vehicle type. Both International Driving Permits and foreign licences are recognised, however foreign licences not written in English need to be accompanied by an English translation.

By Coach
All interstate and regional coaches arrive and depart from the Central Bus Station at 101-111 Franklin Street, Adelaide.

Greyhound Coaches  has connections to Adelaide from major Australian cities and offers travel passes designed for independent travel.
Firefly Express also operates services from Melbourne and Sydney to Adelaide. Premier Stateliner provides daily passenger services to most regions within South Australia.
