The nation's wine capital, South Australia, is also home to the perfect pint.

Sample our fine selection of beers at one of our many great pubs. But for serious beer nuts it's worth going straight to the source. Our two biggest breweries, world-famous Coopers and the popular South Australian Brewing Company, both run tours of their Adelaide plants.

And further afield, there are a whole lot of delicious microbreweries and brewpubs where you can chat to the makers while you taste their product.

Ordering Beer
Ordering a glass of beer in Australia can be a little tricky for first time visitors, because beer measurements and their names vary widely between Australian states.

In South Australian pubs, ask for a 'schooner' or a 'pint'. The South Australian schooner is 285ml - equivalent to an Imperial half pint. The South Australian pint, at 425ml, is slightly smaller than the Imperial 568ml measure. You can also buy beer in 375ml single-serve bottles, known as stubbies.

The legal drinking age in Australia is 18.
